Pairing introspective yet kitschy animals with etherial backgrounds

Although cute animals may be concidered kitsch or decorative, I believe that animals can exhibit true human emotions. These animals have the power to communicate passion, frustration, curiosity, and pride. I enjoy making these paintings because I have to opportunity to play with the way people see kitsch. The etherial, almost ephemeral backgrounds create a pleasing tension with the animals, pushing people to reevaluate their preconceptions about kitsch.
